Congratulations to Judge Ryan Carson, Former Jacobsen Orr Partner, on His Selection to Serve as United States Magistrate Judge

On July 29, 2024, Nebraska’s United States District Court Judges announced that they selected Judge Ryan C. Carson to join the federal court bench as a United States Magistrate Judge.  Judge Carson is a former partner/shareholder of Jacobsen Orr.  The entire Jacobsen Orr team congratulates him on this monumental achievement.

Prior to taking the bench, Judge Carson practiced law at Jacobsen Orr, primarily focused on product liability defense, insurance defense, and civil and commercial litigation.  In 2019, he was appointed by Governor Ricketts as District Judge for Nebraska’s Ninth Judicial District, which encompasses Buffalo and Hall Counties.

When Judge Carson took the District Court bench in 2019, it marked the third time in the history of Jacobsen Orr that a partner/shareholder accepted a judicial appointment.  The two other Jacobsen Orr partner/shareholder-alumni who became judges include Retired District Court Judge William T. Wright (Ninth Judicial District) and Retired District Court Judge Terri S. Harder (Tenth Judicial District). We are pleased to have had the opportunity to work with all three of our alumni judges.

Jacobsen Orr seeks to recruit lawyers with the highest caliber of professionalism, talent, and skill.  Judge Carson was no exception.  The Honorable Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., Chief United States District Judge, commented on Judge Carson’s selection as follows: “Nebraska’s federal court, and the people it serves, are very fortunate to welcome such a highly qualified individual to our bench.”

Judge Carson will take the United States Magistrate Judge bench on November 1, 2024, filling the vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Susan M. Bazis as United States District Judge. The entire Jacobsen Orr team wishes Judge Carson continued success in his new role as United States Magistrate Judge.
